OSLO, Norway – The new Philippine Ambassador to Norway, Elizabeth P. Buensuceso, has presented her credentials to Norwegian King Harald V. In simple ceremonies held at the Royal Palace on 8 January, the King engaged Ambassador Buensuceso in a lengthy “conversation" on various topics ranging from John Donne to bi lateral relations between Norway and the Philippines.

Amb. Buensuceso also conveyed to the King the felicitations and wishes for good health, peace and happiness for the New Year from President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo. King Harald, in turn, requested Amb. Buensuceso to extend to Mrs. Arroyo his warm greetings and wished the Philippines success and prosperity. Amb. Buensuceso signified to the King the Philippine government's intention to deepen and broaden the bilateral relations between Norway and the Philippines particularly in the fields of energy, tourism and maritime cooperation.

She also thanked the King for Norway’s warm welcome to Filipino nurses and other medical personnel and said that it was very well for them to have done so as Filipino nurses are praised all over the world for their “tender, loving care.” The King, in turn, said he believed this truly because he had some efficient Filipinos in his staff at the palace. In addition to Norway, Amb. Buensuceso’s post includes Denmark and Iceland.
